Why is it free right now?
It's our launch offer. Ledger Desk is a paid tax preparation service, and for a limited time we prepare and file returns free of charge: one return per tax year for each person or business. There are no hidden fees. See the full offer terms.
What happens when the offer ends?
We'll post the end date on this site at least 30 days ahead. If you started your return before then, it stays free, even if we file it after the offer ends. For new returns, you'll see the price before you start (see Pricing), and we never charge you without your agreement.
Who prepares my return?
An accountant on our team. If your return needs expertise outside their practice, we assign it to another accountant or tell you if we can't take it on.
Do I need to visit an office?
No. Everything happens in your account: your answers, documents, messages with your accountant and signing your return.
Which documents will I need?
It depends on your year. After you answer the questions, your accountant gives you a list. Common ones are W-2s from employers, 1099s for other income, and last year's return.
Can you prepare returns for past years?
Yes. When you start, you can choose any of the last six tax years.
Do you prepare business returns?
Yes: LLCs, S corporations, C corporations and partnerships, in any state.
How will you contact me?
By email, and by text or WhatsApp if you choose. You can also message your accountant in your account at any time.
